Before we start this recap/review:
Just to let UK fans know that SciFi/SciFiHD is due to start airing the new incarnation of “V” from the beginning on 13th April 2010 at 10pm. (Watch live to increase ratings if you want to see more V!) Included at the end is Anna’s Bliss music. Know the artist?)
Within the UK the question I have been asked most is: “How much is the new V like the old V?” Which was ‘hugely’ popular in the UK, and still is! So on the first review/recap I made a lot of 
comparisons to the original, I felt as though I had covered that nicely, and don’t really find it appropriate to make detailed comparisons on every post I make, as it really is a different show, once you cover the basic plot which remains the same.
Aliens come to earth in their 
Big Space ships claiming to be here in ‘peace’ but turn out to be Lizards intent on eating us… You have the comparisons to the Characters Donovan/Erica; Christine/Chad, Daniel/Tyler, Julie/Georgie, Martin/Ryan, (though I think Joshua is more like Martin). Diana/Anna Well Diana was never leader, she was only commander of the Los Angeles Mothership, but this is what people see…
This is a totally ‘new’ show, made for TODAY! The Visitors are referred to as the V’s, not V for Victory as was in the 80’s V. The Visitors (V’s) don’t have the funny distorted voices, as they in this incarnation have ‘infiltrated’ (Within high places like the FBI, I would imagine within the UK, MI5 ect…) for decades, as Georgie said in the pilot, the infiltrators created instability so when ‘Anna’ and her mob came; they arrived to a ‘broken’ earth, less resistance ‘Genius!’ The V’s also now have biologically engineered Human flesh over their ‘true’ forms. This will help with the lie, for example they will bleed like a human if cut… Though as we saw with Ryan a ‘deep’ wound will reveal their true Lizard form. Nevertheless if there are any relevant comparisons I will continue to make them!
“This is just the beginning” opening begins with Ryan running towards the sound of gunfire in a car park… Erica dashes towards Georgie who is on the floor bleeding…
Ryan then runs into view with his gun held seemingly pointed at Erica, and shoots…
**Fourteen Hours Earlier**
We cut back to the Church; where episode 3 ended. Georgie is talking about the visitors, what he knows! He explained that the Visitors came after him when he first found out about them and their evil plans, he managed to get away… His family did not.
*This makes Georgie a more complex character; he is not just fighting for the purpose of saving mankind. He is looking for retribution. He has nothing to loose so he is very dangerous, in the fact that he would do anything to expose the Visitors*
Erica tells Georgie she’s sorry for his loss, then turns her attention to Ryan, “How comes you know so much about them?” *She obviously thinks he’s a little sneaky too*
He just side steps the question and says that he has been doing this even longer then Georgie.
Georgie takes their attention away, by saying that they need to get the V’s back for what they have done… He says they do not need many people, they only need to get a V and cut it open and expose to the world what they really are.
*Like they did in the original V from the 80’s*
“We do that and they’d have no choice to retaliate, and that’s just a war we can’t win they’d wipe us out” Ryan explains
Erica is very sceptical of Ryan. Georgie tells her she has nothing to worry about because he’d be dead if Ryan didn’t save him at the warehouse.
Georgie tackles Ryan when they leave asks why he could not tell Erica and Jack who he really is. Ryan answers by saying “I had better not hear you talking about skinning a V ever again” and leaves.
On the Mothership, Marcus is explaining to Anna that Dale Maddox has died…
“And you are telling me that he was murdered. On board my ship?” Anna is not a happy bunny.
Joshua states, “There has never been a murder on any of our ships, who would do such a thing?”
Marcus tells them that there have been rumours of traitors on board, Fifth Column.
“We cannot afford any kind of dissidence among our people…” She orders Joshua to question the medical staff; Marcus throws a questioning stare towards Joshua as he leaves.
Erica is at home running Ryan through her FBI database (Which is coming up with nothing). When Tyler asks her to talk; she tells him that she needs two minutes.
So Tyler sits on the sofa and puts the television on. Chad Decker is interviewing Anna on his Prime focus show. She has an announcement she wants to make… they zoom into the television set, the out, into Ryan’s home. Valerie is on the phone as Anna’s interview plays in the background. Val is not feeling well; she thinks that it is her medication causing her to feel so tired all the time.
Anna makes her announcement.
“Our physicians are able to treat a number of human ailments, but preventative medicine is also important. We’ve developed an injection; call it a vitamin supplement. Designed to strengthen the immune system…” Anna is smiling
Throughout this interview, and even more so when Decker revels that this Vitamin injection can fight off several forms of cancer and some other diseases. It can also help against the aging process… She tells Decker that they will be offering the injections around the clock at healing centres soon.
Decker asks if they (The V’s) can cure the common cold? But Anna laughs and says: “Your flu shots will have to suffice. I’m afraid that even we haven’t cracked the common cold”. (This will make so much sense later…)
Ryan looks very concerned at this announcement.
Back at the Evans household: Tyler turns off the television, and has grown impatient, so calls his mother over to the sofa. He starts to ‘try’ to talk about Lisa… Erica cannot help herself she cracks a joke “Half naked girl in my son’s room- Lisa”
Tyler is of course mortified by this comment, and gets really embarrassed. Erica’s mobile phone rings, she tells Tyler she want to listen and wont take the call, but Tyler says that it is work so she should take it… It is Ryan.
Tyler leaves in a stress as Erica tries to get rid of Ryan from the call.
Ryan insists that they have to meet. Stresses that it is important.
*I do really feel for Tyler here, he really wants to confide in his mother, but she seems so caught up in work, of course he is too fixed within the hype of the Visitors to see that his mum is trying to save the world!*
Erica, Jack, Georgie and Ryan meet at the church. Ryan explains that he had taken down a Visitor cell that had been creating an injection to place amongst the human population; Anna must be bringing that plan back into action. Ryan has Erica run names of known V operatives that were involved in the last \injection’ plot. One name displays any result. Peter Combs. He is a V scientist. They decide to follow him; Georgie doesn’t seem pleased by this outcome.
Tyler is in a counselling session with Ryan’s fiancé. He tells her how wonderful he thinks the Visitors are, and even offers to get her seen at the healing centre. He starts winging about his mother’s ‘dislike’ of the Visitors. He tells Val that he has joined the Peace Ambassadors He takes out his jacket and Anna and Lisa are now seeing him up on the Mothership via a holo monitor. He say how his Mother won’t see that the V’s are wonderful as she wont even talk to one.
Lisa turns to Anna and tells her that she thought he would take longer, but he is ready! Anna tells Lisa to bring Tyler up to the ship because she wants to eat him… I mean meet hit, *Smile*
Decker is in the New York healing centre, Marcus is thanking him for covering the healing centre.
Decker observes a visitor medic heal a horrific burn. Decker seems mesmerized by this. *The visual effects were fantastic in this sequence, and subtle sounds effects add to the over all feel, leaves the audience wowed too*
Erica and Jack are outside of New York State University, where this Visitor Combs works as a professor. Georgie and Ryan are already in place.
Georgie looks adamant ‘not’ to stick to whatever the ‘plan’ is. *As I said Georgie want retribution for the loss of him family, so will go to great lengths to expose the Visitors. They will pay for destroying his life, this is the vibe that he gives off*
Meanwhile up on the Mothership. Anna has Joshua and on of him medical staff before her. *I’m not sure why but my friend “G” and I have been referring to him as David, so I’ll call him David the Medic from here-on-in! I’ve watched this episode more then once and haven’t heard a name for him*
She asks if he has questioned everyone, “extensively” Joshua replies. She tells him to gather all those that were on duty the day that dale was murdered.
As they leave David the Medic tells Joshua he must leave the ship. He implores that Joshua is too important to the fifth column to be sacrificed.
Back outside the university car park, Jack and Erica are waiting for the ‘signal’
Georgie sees Combs head towards his car, so he polls his gun, and readies to take aim. He corners Combs beside his car,
“Hey Combs, I’m gonna cut you open and show the world what you really are” With that he starts shooting, he misses. *C’mon Georgie, you really need to get some target practice in!*
Erica and Jack hear the shots, Erica has Jack get the car and bring it up as she dashes inside to find out that has transpired.
Combs shoots Georgie; he goes down.
*Now this brings us right back to where we began this episode*
Erica finds Georgie on the floor bleeding. Ryan approaches with his gun aimed at what looks to be Erica, but he shoots Combs NOT Erica. Combs goes down with a realistic blood splattering from the bullet exit. Erica attends to Georgie; of course Georgie tells her that Combs started shooting first. Jack pulls up, Erica and Jack gets Georgie into the car. Jack leaves with him as Erica observes Ryan dealing with Combs. She hears Combs call Ryan a “Filthy traitor”. Combs outs a small silver capsule into his mouth, and his body burns. Like spontaneous combustion, except I would imagine slower and more controlled. Nothing but grey ashes left behind. *Ryan explains later that this is so there is no evidence left behind*
Ryan retrieves Combs’ suitcase, and turns to see Erica has her gun pulled on him. “You’re a Visitor,” She states. Ryan tries to convince her that he wasn’t she same thing, he wants to find out what Combs was doing.
Valerie walks into the reception at the New York healing centre, Tyler had made the appointment for her.
Then we cut to Chad Decker, elsewhere within the Healing Centre. He is shooting some footage for his “Prime Focus” Show. He sits on a Visitor Scanner, it seems harmless enough, it runs over him in a few painless seconds.
Erica needs answers. She asks Ryan, if there are other visitors like him, traitors that are fighting against Anna?
“They’re called the Fifth column” He said, “Good to know” Erica replies, but she still seems weary of him.
They sort through the brief case that belonged to combs. When Erica comes across something, a lead perhaps. The: ‘Lyndhurst shipping company’.
Anna has the medical staff standing before her, she does not look happy at all.
She slowly paces in front of them, heading towards Joshua as she says: “The murdered sleeper agent was a valuable asset. Had he been debriefed he would have provided us with invaluable information. Someone prevented that from happening…”
Anna sends David the medic, who was standing with Joshua at the head of the group, to stand with the other staff. She continued, pacing back down the centre of the line of medics. “Unless the guilty party steps forward to take responsibility I’m gonna have to choose one of you, to set an example. The innocent will suffer” She proclaims. She doesn’t look very happy…
*Morena is doing a fantastic job here; you can see that Anna is really angry, but it is so subtle, in her eyes and demeanour*
Joshua is getting twitchy, and looks to be a bout to step forwards when David the Medic makes his move before Anna can see Joshua faltering. He steps out and defiantly looks towards Anna and says: “Long live the Fifth Column”
*Wow if looks could kill…Anna ‘is’ not happy!*
She tells Joshua as he is the lead medical officer he is to carry out the punishment… “Skin him,” She sneers almost gleeful; with a look of pleasure sweeping her features for a few seconds. *Anna may well be like Diana of the previous incarnation of V, taking great pleasure in others suffering. Anna may as-of-yet have a sadistic side*
Tyler is brought up to the Mothership, Lisa had told him that her Mother wanted to meet him, she didn’t actually tell him who her Mother is… Tyler spots Anna and has a ‘fan-boy’ moment “Oh My God that’s Anna!! Do you know her??”
Lisa with an almost casual brush off says: “That’s my Mom” Tyler is dumb struck…
Anna tells Tyler that Lisa has told her all about him *Yeah right, you’ve been cyber stalking him with your peace ambassador jacket Anna!*
Tyler with an edge of his ‘fan-boy’ excitement admits that Lisa hadn’t told him about her, but he already know a lot about her…
Anna tells Lisa that she wants to get to know Tyler, Lisa tells him, that it’s ok, her mom wont bite *Sure she wont, well not yet anyway!*
At the Lyndhurst Shipping Company, Erica lures the guard out so they can gain entry,
It’s just Jack, Ryan and Erica, as Georgie is recovering. Ryan sets off an alarm that has the building evacuated. So they can investigate with out interruption.
Anna is talking to Tyler as she leads him along a corridor within the Mothership, *The ships interior gives off an almost reptilian vibe, like the shape of the Mothership itself, very much like a snakes head, I think that is a genius touch from the designers and VFX team involved in V*
She explains that Lisa’s happiness means a lot to her, and the line: “I think it’s universal instinct for Mothers to be protective of their young” *Yes I think you will find that Erica will agree Anna!*
Anna takes Tyler to see the engine room; she knows he is mad on technology, so wants to hook him in further…
Joshua has prepared David the Medic for his ‘Skinning’ *this does not sound at all pleasant* Joshua still can’t believe that David has sacrificed himself for him.
*I just want to say that I think the casting of David the Medic was fantastic, he really pulled on my heart strings during this sequence, the single tear that rolled down his cheek, you really want him to be saved. But you know it’s the only way for Joshua to be safe. Anna is testing Joshua’s loyalty, by making him be the one to kill David And Mark Hildreth is magnificent as Joshua, he really manages to bring humanity into this Visitor he seems to be the only visitor we have met with a conscience*
After encouragement from David, Joshua begins the procedure, David screams out… We see the pain on Joshua’s face…
Ryan, Erica and Jack start to look around the Lyndhurst warehouse, Jack calls her into a clean room that is really out of place for the setting. Ryan finds a vile of something labelled R6…
What they find is disturbing, Humans have been experimented on, they are dead, it looks like they died in agony, and the corpses look almost like Egyptian Mummies…
Another disturbing find, they aren’t putting the R6 into the vitamin injections, it is being mixed in with the Flu vaccinations. Erica discovered that the R6 laced Flu vaccinations were due to be shipped out ‘tomorrow’ *the creepy thing is I had just had my flu vaccination the morning that I first viewed this episode*
They come to the conclusion that the Vitamin injection, is probably exactly that, and this was a way of getting the R6 laced Flu vaccines mingled with normal vaccines, the government aren’t going to be worried about the Flu vaccines when they have a V medication to evaluate. Erica says that the Visitor’s are counting on our predictability… you see when there is an epidemic, like the swine flu out break for example, people go out and get vaccinated. It’s human nature to want to protect ourselves, and the Visitors will use that against us.
Erica keeps a vile as evidence, and they agree that the rest needs to be destroyed.
They hear someone entering the warehouse…
Val is at the healing centre, she was told that her heart condition can be healed, but they also picked up something else…
V security agents flood into the warehouse.
Ryan tells Erica and Jack to get out, he will go back because every V system has a fail safe. He gets back to the clean room, and works on a V computer…
He sets what looks to be a self-destruct when a V security agent attacks him from behind. Erica had neglected to listen to Ryan and shoots the Visitor attacking Ryan.
They get out just in the nick of time; the building is blowing uo as the run for cover
Decker is coming to the end of his day at the healing centre, and is reading to leave when Marcus requests his presence. Marcus and a Medic tell Decker that he will develop a fatal vascular artery aneurysm in about six months.
They tell him that they can cure him, but Decker is not convinced. He wants a second opinion, but the medic is quick to say that earth technology could not pick this up. They shock him with a history of his past and present ailments. But Decker is weary. I would be too in his position.
Marcus tells Anna that the warehouse containing the R6 has been destroyed, sabotage.
Marcus tells her that they received a message moments before the building was lost.
Marcus states that the bad news has travelled quickly, to the other ships there was already concern, but it has turned to fear among their people. Anna looks almost livid, and then composes herself, and states: “The we must manage their fear, remind everyone that even amid the talks of the fifth column, of John May *Note she had an edge of anger to her voice as she said his name* They have me!”

Anna enters a dark chamber, wearing nothing but a sheet; she walks towards a devise emitting white light; this is a stark contrast with the darkness of the chamber.
She disrobes, and kneels in a shimmering pulsating light…
Anna begins to speak, but this is a transmitted thought, to every visitor, within the Motherships, and the sleeper agents on Earth…
“No need for regrets for mistakes made yesterday. The past has gone, no looming fate, no uncontrollable destiny. No hunger, no sickness, no fear, no death…”
“…Nothing ahead. Nothing behind. Just stillness. light, warmth. The pain you felt, the pain you may have caused others it’s behind you…”
“…No looking back, no fear of what will come. Just the pulse of time, invigorating, soothing. Bask in my light…”
“…Take comfort in knowing that I am here, you will never be a lone!” Her voice echoes, around, and the reactions of the Visitors are almost euphoric, seemingly effecting the same part of the brain as Chocolate J… they are almost in a trance. Anna seems to be getting, as much out of it as the visitors under her control. Ryan stated that this is like a drug, it is how Anna controls the Visitors. Verging on mind control perhaps, we saw how Cyrus was in withdrawals from the effects of Bliss. Though I think this is probably the ‘nicest’ form of Anna’s bliss that we will see. My personal opinion is that she can use this ‘gift’ of hers in a more sinister way…
Tyler asks Lisa “What was that?” She replies: “A gift from my mother, we call it Bliss” And she is looking rather Blissful, Tyler and Lisa, kiss.
Ryan arrives home, Val is waiting for him, and she has some news. She shows him a positive pregnancy test… She is Pregnant with a Visitor-Human Hybrid child… Ryan hugs Val, but he looks very concerned. *Ok here’s the homage to the original V, it will be interesting to see how different this pregnancy/birth will be from Robin’s story, which is what most people quote from remembering from the original V! Even Morena has said in interviews that she remembers the ‘birthing’ scene from watching as a child*
Father Jack is back at the church, alone. He hears a noise, he finds a man upset on a pew. But it’s the Visitor from the warehouse, and oh my gosh he stabs Father Jack.
Erica arrives home to find that Tyler isn’t home; she hears a bleeping from the desktop computer, an instant message from Brandon, “Can’t believe you were invited up to the V ship I wanna hear EVERYTHING!” She tries to phone his Mobile, but we see Tyler up on the Mothership press the end call icon on his phone. He is with Lisa and Anna, looking out on the New York landscape; he mentions that it would be amazing to see space from here…
Anna states “What you have seen here today Tyler… is only the beginning”
We see this amazing CGI sequence, zooming out from Lisa, Tyler and Anna, up past the Mothership, Earth from space, then zooming out from our solar system, and we see a massive fleet of Motherships…And when I say MASSIVE I really mean MASSIVE!
This is Anna’s greatest gift to Humanity?
I expect to see more of their true forms in the eight new episodes that will begin their run on 30th March 2010. I am sure Anna has many more sinister plans for the humans. I have some theories… I think Anna has a personal relationship with John May, and I personally think that maybe… John May is Lisa’s Father???
I of course could be very wrong here… And some entrusting thoughts between me and @Celtica_Visitor Via Twitter that Joshua could be related to John May (This was due to a typo from @IamAnnaTheV who wrote Josh May instead of John May on Face book!) But could be potentially true as it was indicated that Joshua is too ‘important’ to the fifth column to die. He was obviously important enough for the other medical officer to sacrifice himself to protect Joshua.
I have seen a couple of teaser clips; I think we are in for one heck of a ride!! I cannot wait to see more V!
