Hello Fallout Fans,

As we enter 2026, we remind everyone that streaming has become the dominant platform for science fiction drama series with broadcast and cable television having virtually abandoned the genre. Even such non science fiction genre such as The Academy Awards are in process of leaving network television in 2029, Oscars will be presented on YouTube, not on the ABC Studios network. The question we must consider is why?
Discussions reveal one reason: The Oscars on YouTube TV will allow a much wider revenue opportunity since viewers will likely be required to purchase a subscription to view The Academy Awards live as our Senior Editor and Producer Lori Glumac shared with me recently “If you want to watch the Oscars you will have to subscribe to YouTube TV which is more money for YouTube and more money for the parent company, so it’s all about the money”.
As we reported prior to San Diego Comic-Con 2024 and followed with a report in November 2024 and followed by another in June 2025, as a streaming series Fallout currently ranks number two worldwide in viewership on a platform (Prime Video) that requires a subscription to watch the program, exactly like Netflix, Hulu and Disney Plus.
As a series Fallout attracted over 65 million viewers worldwide shortly after its premiere on April 10, 2024, then clmbing to 100 million by the end of season one making it one of the most-watched titles on Amazon Prime Video. It ranks as the second most-watched title on the platform within its initial days of the season two release. Topped only by Stranger Things from Netflix, season five made it the most-watched series in Netflix history. The fifth season has already reached with over 102.6 million views in just four weeks since its release. Nielsen Ranked another top genre series, Silo from Apple TV broke into the Top 10 for the first time, ranking 9th overall.

Fallout stars Ella Purnell as Lucy MacLean, Walton Goggins as Cooper Howard who turns into The Ghoul in the future, Aaron Moten as Maximus, Kyle MacLachlan as Hank MacLean, Leslie Uggams as Betty Pearson, Moises Arias as Norm Maclean, Sarita Choudhury as Lee Moldaver, Frances Turner as executive Barb Howard who suggests they start the nuclear war to ensure that sell The Vaults made by the Vault-Tec Corporation, Teagan Meredith as young pre war Janey Howard, and Zach Cherry as Woody Thomas.

Additionally, Fallout on Prime is excellent in featuring a huge ensemble cast that makes each episode a delight to watch including CX404 also known as Dogmeat portrayed by real life pooch Lana 5 the lovable German Shepard canine companion seen throughout the series!
Fallout series is already renewed for a third season with writing for the third season now in production. We anticipate with a tentative release date later in 2026 or perhaps in early 2027. Also announced is a desire by Bethesda’s Tom Howard that he would like to bring Ron Pearlman to the series to delight fans since Pearlman was heavily featured in the original Bethesda game. All in all, we are hopeful that Amazon MGM Studios will bring members of the series cast and creators to Comic-Con in July 2026.

Speaking of the superb series creators, Fallout on Prime, as a streaming series was a result of the genius’ Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson-Dworet for Amazon Prime Video bringing the action of the game to life on our screens.
Fallout on Prime is based on the run away hit role-playing video game franchise created by Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky. The Fallout on Prime series is set two centuries after the Great War of 2077 according to Tom Howard of Bethesda Game Studios.

Season one set the foundation exploring many awesome aspects of Fallout game play. Along the way we learned about the principle characters, life in The Vaults, and hellish existence on the surface where mutations from radiation exposure occurred subsequent to the Great War of 2077.
We end with episode eight sporting a very appropriate episode title The Beginning after Nuclear Fusion Power is restored from a device embedded in the detached head of Siggi Wilzig (Michael Emerson) that was demanded by Lee Moldaver. Lucy MacLean learns that her father Hank MacLean is a bad guy, who then escapes in a Power Armor suit, and The Ghoul invites Lucy to join him on a trip to “New (Las) Vegas” setting up the story arc from the game for a superb second season!

The second season begins with 100 million viewers worldwide in an exciting episode named The Innovator where the episodic focus is on events before the Great War of 2077.
It is here at the start of season two that viewers observe Hollywood actor Cooper Howard having eavesdropped on his wife’s disclosure to Vault-Tec’s board of directors her evil plans initially witnessed in the season one finale.
Viewers quickly learn that Lee Moldaver’s primary task is pressuring Cooper Howard into becoming a cold-blooded murderer bringing to the forefront delightful details of what was only a two hundred year old backstory not fully revealed in the game that that started in 1997.

Cooper Howard’s involvement with Moldaver, Vault-Tec become a failed attempt to prevent pending and planned Armageddon. His shock at what is wife is planning will result in Cooper Howard ending up on the on the front line of the destruction of humanity.
What was previously Fallout’s distant backstory that was not fully explored in the game play adventures, these factors brilliantly unfold on screen.
During the episode we meet a younger version of an evil character named Robert House, portrayed by Rafi Silver and later by Justin Theroux who we learn is referred to as “The Man Who Knew” about the hideous plan that devastated life on our fair planet Earth!
We also suspect that Hank has a past connection to Robert House, however that is not fully delineated in what is otherwise an exciting episode. All of this leaves viewers wondering if Robert House survived or has access to medicine that has kept him alive two hundred years after the Great War.

The second episode of the second season is named The Golden Rule where viewers learn more about the past history of Maximus, Hank’s ongoing evil machinations as Norm learns more about the secret of Vault 31 which contains the replacement humans used for generations to supply fresh candidates for Vault 33 as well as Vault 32.
The situation is abhorrently evil, but Norm informs every one of the new executives of Vault 31 they are all trapped in the system that has perpetuated their what was thought to be an ideal existence for the past two hundred years.

Segue back in Area 51, the Brotherhood of Steel examines technology they have found. While the Brotherhood are apparently having fun, Maximus is not satisfied to be accepted by the Brotherhood at last since their personal hygiene habits leave a lot to be desired. Nevertheless, Maximus states in this horrible future that “The Brotherhood is as good as it gets. I’m just trying to make it better”.
The episode ends subsequent to viewers learning lessons after exploring the far too often lack of morality manifest in the future. The series is a reflection much like real life in our times with rampant crime, religious massacres and hideous drug infestation cartels worldwide. All of this is coupled with the harsh realities manifest in the Fallout Wasteland beautifully ported from the game, the focus on Lucy, Maximus, Norm, Hank and finding a frozen stiff leads to a hilarious quote “Holy Shit, A Real Fucking Icebox” sets up viewers for the third terrific episode of season two entitled “The Profligate” airing in a few short days.
