Okay, folks!\u00a0 Here\u2019s the one you\u2019ve been waiting for\u2026\u00a0 The Creation Entertainment Farscape Fare<\/span><\/span>\"Click<\/a>well 2009 Ben and Claudia panel!\u00a0 This panel was packed full of people.\"logo_FS_sml\"<\/a> If you\u2019ve ever seen Ben and Claudia on stage together, then you know why it was.\u00a0 They are hilarious!\u00a0 Well, let\u2019s get down to business.\u00a0 I\u2019m sure you don\u2019t want to read through me rambling on about how amazing they are.\u00a0 Read for yourself!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben was running a little late for this panel and Claudia said she was always waiting on a man.\u00a0 I think this \"Claudia\"<\/a>may have something to do with the fact that she is surrounded by men in her house\u2026\u00a0 The lights were down, so the audience yelled for the people in charge to turn them on.\u00a0 Claudia agreed.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> Let\u2019s get some lighting because, quite frankly a girl takes what she can get at this age!\u00a0 (There was a lot of \u201cAwwww\u201ding from the crowd)\u00a0 No!\u00a0 Listen!\u00a0 We\u2019ve all gotten older.\u00a0 If you started with us at the beginning, time did not<\/em> stop for us.\u00a0 I have two kids!\u00a0 (She had the biggest smile on her face when she said this.\u00a0 She was every inch the proud Mama.)\u00a0 I\u2019m working up to explaining to them what it is I do for a living.\u00a0 I heard a phrase come out of my older son\u2019s mouth that I never hoped to hear come out of a young child\u2019s mouth.\u00a0 (In imitation of her son) \u201cMama!\u00a0 Your limo\u2019s waiting for you!\u201d\u00a0 It sounded SO awful!\u00a0 How do you know what a limo is?\u00a0 That\u2019s what you get for bringing kids up in LA.\u00a0 We were just reminiscing back stage about when Ben arrived on the show.\u00a0 He had his whole family with him already. \u00a0So many things have changed for a lot of us.\u00a0 Pygram, Raelee, and Becca, we now, on the other side of it – most of us met our partners while we were shooting Farscape, or ju<\/span><\/span>\"Claudia2\"<\/a><\/span><\/span>st afterwards \u2013 so now we\u2019ve come through the (chuckles) wormhole to the other side with very different lives.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been going through the whole juggling being a working Mum in this business and trying to, you know\u2026\u00a0 I was talking to someone because my kids have got some food allergy stuff going on and we were talking to a counselor about it because we don\u2019t want them to have food issues as they grow up.\u00a0 He said, \u201cLook, in general, you can be a great wife, a great mother, a great career woman.\u00a0 You choose two out of those three.\u201d\u00a0 So, I think I\u2019m going to be a crappy actor.\u00a0 Well, hang on a minute!\u00a0 I\u2019ve been doing that for over a decade!\u00a0 Hopefully, I\u2019ll continue to be a great mother and a great wife.\u00a0 And my poor husband came to set and he came the final day Ben and I were doing the scene of the final episode of season four and he\u2019s proposing to me on the boat and we kiss!\u00a0 My husband said to me (laughs) \u201cThis completely sucks!\u00a0 Thanks for bringing me to set\u2026\u00a0 That was really awful.\u201d\u00a0 And it\u2019s funny because so much of what became my personal life while I was filming the show \u2013 (a baby made a loud noise from the audience and Claudia smiled) A little baby!\u00a0 (Long pause)\u00a0 I can\u2019t\u2026\u00a0 I can\u2019t.\u00a0 I\u2019ll start lactating again\u2026\u00a0 (Laughs, then someone walked on stage carrying a tray)\u00a0 Oh, look!\u00a0 My \"Claudia3\"<\/a>lunch is here!\u00a0 I\u2019m going to eat.\u00a0 (Everyone in the audience started laughing and Claudia stopped and looked at all of us)\u00a0 I am not kidding.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> (He was backstage with a microphone) Need someone to hold that for you?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> (She didn\u2019t realize it was Ben who had asked that\u2026)\u00a0 Oh, no thank you, I\u2019m just fine.\u00a0 Thanks for the offer.\u00a0 Hands up mothers in the audience!\u00a0 (Scans the crowd)\u00a0 We can do five things at once, can\u2019t we?\u00a0 Sorry you have to watch it.\u00a0 It\u2019s really quite embarrassing watching me eat.\u00a0 It\u2019s just, I\u2019m not a lady.\u00a0 (She saw what she was about to eat)\u00a0 Oh, how delightful!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> Are you sure you don\u2019t want someone to hold that for you?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> (At this point, she realized it was Ben and squinted up her face and looked back and forth) It depends\u2026\u00a0 Are you from Carolina?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> \u2026I have been there.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> Do you like In\u2019N\u2019Out burgers?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> Almost as much as you do.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> (Laughs) That\u2019s quite a lot.\u00a0 Did you spend a large portion of your illustrious career wearing black leather and getting spanked by Australian women?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> A fair portion, yes.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Hugs\"<\/a>Claudia Black: <\/strong> Well, color me happy, come out here and hold my plate. (Smiles)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Someone in the audience yelled out, \u201cCan I get a hell yeah?\u201d before Ben was able to.\u00a0 Needless to say, they only got a halfhearted reply from the audience.\u00a0 Ben looked a little miffed and just stood there and shook his head.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> CAN I GET A HELL YEAH?!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The audience was far more enthusiastic with their reply of \u201cHELL YEAH!\u201d to Ben.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> Wow!\u00a0 You guys have been practicing!\u00a0 What did I miss?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

An audience member yelled out \u201cLunch!\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> Yeah, your breakfast is getting cold, you skipped that too.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> There\u2019s cold oatmeal back there if anyone wants it\u2026<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> Want a bite?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> Sure.<\/span><\/span>\"Eating\"<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia fed him a bite off of her fork and the cameras went wild!\u00a0 I don\u2019t k<\/span><\/span>now how they could even see after all of those flashes\u2026\u00a0 A guy yelled out, \u201cCareful!\u00a0 His wife\u2019s in the building!\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> It is alright.\u00a0 I have been put through the Francesca test.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been given the seal of approval.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> Yeah, you were telling the Jamie story.\u00a0 First time her husband came to set.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> Oh, poor guy!\u00a0 I mean, really!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> (In a sarcastic tone) I love your work, Hun! (Laughs) Any of you guys got Uncharted 2? (Points at Claudia) Chloe?\u00a0 Ok, it\u2019s one of the greatest video games ever.\u00a0 My son has already beaten it on \u201chard\u201d.\u00a0 He\u2019s working on \u201ccrushing\u201d.\u00a0 It takes awhile to beat these games, so I\u2019ve spent the last two weeks listening to Claudia Black.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> So, a haunting, really.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> In a nice way.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> It\u2019s amazing.\u00a0 I was just talking about when you arrived with your family, they were very young.\u00a0 Your son was in diapers, literally.\u00a0 He was on your hip and you came with both of them into the room when I was having my costume fitting.\u00a0 And now, they text me asking for Beta codes to the game I\u2019ve just made!\u00a0 It\u2019s really weird!\u00a0 And I love text messaging, so they know how to get to my heart\u2026\u00a0 They\u2019re texting, what\u2019s your number?\u00a0 And then, how\u2019s it going?\u00a0 Whatcha up to? – You know, on a Saturday night \u2013 Can I have the Beta codes for the game you\u2019ve just done?\u00a0 And I\u2019m like, \u201cUh, okay, and I\u2019m gonna have to say something that feels quite weird, but I\u2019m going to have to check with your father first.\u201d (Laughs)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"BenClaudia\"<\/a>Ben Browder: <\/strong> And so you try to explain to him, \u201cYeah, I know you want the Beta codes, but don\u2019t you think Claud\u2019s going to catch on to the fact that that\u2019s<\/em> why you\u2019re texting her?\u201d (In imitation of his son) \u201cNo dad!\u00a0 I just want to say hi!\u201d\u00a0 Hi, how ya doin\u2019?\u00a0 \u2026Do you have the Beta codes?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> We have to finesse that negotiating skill when they\u2019re little.\u00a0 Cloak it.\u00a0 A little more social banter first.\u00a0 (Offers Ben another bite) Want some more?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> No, I\u2019m good.\u00a0 This is typical of our lunches on Farscape.\u00a0 I would have one bite and she\u2019d eat a whole plate.\u00a0 And part of my plate!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> It\u2019s a metabolism thing.\u00a0 I remember the crew used to set their watches by me because when I started walking around set saying, \u201cWhen\u2019s lunch?\u201d it was between ten and eleven am everyday.\u00a0 So they knew it was morning tea time because I was already hungry.\u00a0 (To Ben)\u00a0 Did you see the \u201cNine to Five\u201d video? (They show the winning fan made videos from the contest they hold each year before every panel) No, you were working.\u00a0 Very good.\u00a0 It was ironic.\u00a0 We found it very amusing.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> (Looks at Claudia funny)\u00a0 Who is \u201cwe\u201d?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> Me and my peeps.\u00a0 (Laughs)\u00a0 We were hangin\u2019 out, waiting for our man.\u00a0 You\u2019re not just my man are you?\u00a0 I have to share you with Francesca and all these guys.\u00a0 Oh well, worth sharing\u2026\u00a0 (Ben turned red and didn\u2019t say anything)\u00a0 What are you doing for Christmas?\u00a0 What do you want for Christmas?\u00a0 I\u2019ll tell Fran.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> No, that\u2019s what you<\/em> want for Christmas.\u00a0 And we do too.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> All I want for Christmas is a good job.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> Okay, I will see what I can do.\u00a0 (Smiles)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> I\u2019m trying to decide what\u2019s sexier\u2026\u00a0 The guitar?\u00a0 Or the lunch?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> Oh, none of it!\u00a0 (Giggles) Me, this morning, before the hair and makeup.\u00a0 Whoa, that was interesting.\u00a0 My poor husband!\u00a0 (Laughs) I was in quite a peculiar outfit b<\/span><\/span>\"BenClaudia4\"<\/a><\/span><\/span>ecause, you know, by Friday, you have no clean laundry left and you start finding bizarre old things that you used to wear while painting the house, or whatever you use for pajamas, and my youngest son \u2013 He turns two tomorrow!\u00a0 (Lot\u2019s of \u201cAwwwws!\u201d) (Smiles) Don\u2019t start me!\u00a0 And when I came out this m<\/span><\/span>orning, I\u2019d been wearing an eye mask that had imprinted itself onto my skin, my hair was a very dirty from a week of shooting and I come out all groggy into the kitchen and he looked me up and down and went, \u201c\u2026Jammies??\u201d\u00a0 Even he<\/em> had a problem with what I wore to bed!\u00a0 Eeeeeeeveryone\u2019s a critic. (Laughs)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> So what are you having for dessert?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> You, baby!\u00a0 (Ben blushed again and couldn\u2019t speak)\u00a0 Just kidding!\u00a0 (About her food)\u00a0 I\u2019m almost done, I promise!\u00a0 So, you guys want to throw to Q&A?\u00a0 I\u2019m always interested to hear what you guys have to say.\u00a0 What do you think?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> Yeah, does anyone have any questions?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

They pointed out the microphones to everyone.\u00a0 Here\u2019s a clip that Creation was kind enough to release of this bit of the panel.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> I think that other than the consideration of what things actually cost because it was fifty cents on the dollar, the human component to get things on the screen, the Australian crews and actors were not afraid to take risks.\u00a0 They were willing to try anything.\u00a0 If the writing staff wrote something that was impossible to do, there was no question that they were going to try to do it.\u00a0 Whereas American television, someone would have said, \u201cNo, no, no!\u00a0 You can\u2019t do that!\u201d\u00a0 The Australian crew did not know the word impossible, so they would write impossible sequences all the time.\u00a0 Tony Tilse, Andrew Prowse, Rowan Woods and all of the directors in Australia would say, \u201cYeah!\u00a0 Let\u2019s do it!\u201d\u00a0 So I think the human component is more important to what Brian is saying about getting more quality on film than you get in the States in Australia.\u00a0 When the show was cancelled and everyone was notified, probably about 90% of the crew began to cry.\u00a0 And that\u2019s something I\u2019ve never seen, where a crew cared that much about the show.\u00a0 Remember, they weren\u2019t showing in Australia.\u00a0 They only knew what they were doing on a day to day basis and the occasional crew viewing of the show.\u00a0 They didn\u2019t do it because they got to hang out with famous people or because the fans wanted to talk to them like, \u201cOh, what\u2019s so-and-so on CSI like?\u201d\u00a0 They did it because the loved working on the show.\u00a0 And that\u2019s true for the crew, the cast, the writers, everyone who worked on that show.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> I was talking to my manager the other day because he has a couple of Australian clients and he was saying that there is something about the spirit of Australians that is different.\u00a0 And I said, look, touch wood, there\u2019s never been a war fought on Australian soil.\u00a0 There\u2019s a sort of freedom and spirit within us that is based on this.\u00a0 It is the lucky country \u2013 or we\u2019ve always referred to it that way, at least in my life time \u2013 and we\u2019re very irreverent and free because we\u2019ve never felt, thank goodness, the constraints.\u00a0 We didn\u2019t experience the second world war or Vietnam, we did via satellite, and of course we sent troops over and all our families have been affected by those wars, but we just have a certain innocence and freedom about us that fused into the tone of the show.\u00a0 We\u2019re not tied to a big brother that\u2019s always telling us what to do and how to be.\u00a0 And I think that shows in our work as well.\u00a0 I love the fact that when things didn\u2019t work, we were allowed to call it.\u00a0 You know, when the creatures turned up to set and they didn\u2019t look the way they\u2019d been described or couldn\u2019t function the way they needed to in the story, we were allowed to find ways to think outside the box and that was such an incredible environment in which to work.\u00a0 We didn\u2019t go home after working a day on Farscape thinking as an artist, \u201cI sort of sold my soul to them.\u00a0 I completely sold out.\u201d\u00a0 Everyone went home thinking, \u201cGod, we really took a risk today.\u00a0 We did something really crazy! (Laughs) I hope it pays off!\u201d\u00a0 But I was really proud going home everyday thinking, \u201cWe dared to be different today.\u201d\u00a0 It was amazing.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Ben\"<\/a>The next question was directed at Ben.\u00a0 The fan asked if the writers had made Cam read and remember all of the mission reports because when Ben got the job he sat down and watched all the previous eight seasons of the show.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> Yeah, the reason Cam had read all the files is because they couldn\u2019t believe I had watched every episode of Stargate until I started quoting them\u2026\u00a0 \u201cOh, yeah, in season one, Cold Lazarus; I loved when the blue stuff was in the yellow stuff.\u00a0 It was great!\u201d\u00a0 (The audience was laughing)\u00a0 See, that\u2019s weird, because there was blue stuff in the yellow stuff, wasn\u2019t there?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The next question got a lot of \u201cOhs\u201d and \u201cAhs\u201d and cheering from the audience.\u00a0 She remarked that Ben and Claudia come every year and answer all of our questions, so if they could ask us one question, what would it be?\u00a0 I think she said it could be an essay assignment or something to that effect.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> See, I get stuck with the homework thing\u2026\u00a0 You guys just saw Francesca and she brings her homework to bed.\u00a0 Have any of you spent you evening with your wife doing linear equations?\u00a0 It\u2019s a little weird!\u00a0 \u201cHoney, if X = 3, then what does Y equal?\u201d\u00a0 \u201c\u2026. I don\u2019t know!\u201d\u00a0 (To Claudia)\u00a0 Do you have a homework assignment for them?\u00a0 They\u2019re your<\/em> peeps.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> Yeah!\u00a0 Get us some fun jobs, yo!\u00a0 Get the webisodes up.\u00a0 Go on!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Someone asked who to contact because Brian said it wasn\u2019t him.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> Did you ask Brian?\u00a0 Did anyone ask him<\/em> for a homework assignment?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> Financiers in Hong Kong.\u00a0 I hear that\u2019s where there\u2019s still money.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> That is an interesting question in regards to financing the webisodes and the question with financing is that at one point \u2013 and I\u2019ve seen a couple projects like this \u2013 people wanted to go directly to the fans to raise money and finance laws in the US make that impossible.\u00a0 Literally, if you get 1,000 people together and decide that you want to finance something, it\u2019s illegal.\u00a0 You got one big guy that works for a bank, they\u2019ll give<\/em> him the billion dollars!\u00a0 I say call up your representatives in Washington; those are the guys that have access to the money!\u00a0 I don\u2019t know.\u00a0 That\u2019s a really good question and until money starts to free up and get out of the hands of the bankers and back into the hands of business\u2026\u00a0 Farscape and Stargate movies and actors are not (Laughs) as much as we\u2019d like to think we\u2019re the only people involved, we\u2019re not the only people being affected by what\u2019s going on with all of us.\u00a0 If I had a solution, I\u2019d be running for political office.\u00a0 Back to the assignment, I already gave an assignment yesterday.\u00a0 Everybody has to read a good sci-fi book.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia saw a huge surfboard in the back of the room and asked Ben if it was his.\u00a0 He said it wasn\u2019t, but he wished it was because it was a \u201cwicked board\u201d!<\/span><\/span>\"BenClaudia7\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The next question was on advice for new actors.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> First advice is always, \u201cDON\u2019T DO IT!\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> No, do it young.\u00a0 Start young.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> Finish young.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> Yeah, make your money while you\u2019re young.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been getting into a lot of improvisation and I think it\u2019s an incredible tool as a lot of people say \u2013 not just the \u201cyes and\u201d that\u2019s a tool in improv in a scene.\u00a0 When you \u201cyes and\u201d you accept the offer that the other person has made, so you\u2019ve said something to me and I have to accept it as fact in the scene, I agree with it and give something back, my \u201cand\u201d to keep the scene going \u2013 A lot of people say that\u2019s not only key to improv, but its also a great metaphor for life.\u00a0 I think improv is an incredible skill.\u00a0 Even if you have no interest in doing something like SNL or stand up, or comedy in general, improv just really teaches you to work as a team and trust the people you\u2019re working with, to really use your brain, and to deal with the grey area.\u00a0 What happens when you go to open your mouth and nothing comes out?\u00a0 There\u2019s an incredible skill set that comes with that.\u00a0 And just being prepared because I\u2019m a terrible chronic perfectionist.\u00a0 I had to let go of that becoming a Mum because that\u2019s just an impossible dream.\u00a0 So, it\u2019s been good for me, but it\u2019s hard because sometimes I can\u2019t be on time because my kid is really sick and the nanny hasn\u2019t shown up and there\u2019s so many messy elements when you have kids that really starts to impact your ability to function at what you think is the height of your intelligence and abilities as a performer.\u00a0 Improv teaches you to let it go and just give what you\u2019ve got and just be there in the moment.\u00a0 That\u2019s my advice.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> Do you want serious advice?\u00a0 (Claudia shot him a look like, \u201cMy advice wasn\u2019t serious?!\u201d)\u00a0 My first advice is don\u2019t do it.\u00a0 It has to be the first advice.\u00a0 No!\u00a0 Don\u2019t do it.\u00a0 If there\u2019s anything else that you think you want to do, do that.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> Don\u2019t you think she\u2019d be doing it by now?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> I don\u2019t know.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know her that well.\u00a0 I\u2019m not really sure if I know you<\/em> that well\u2026\u00a0 I think there are lots of things you could be doing.\u00a0 No, you\u2019re too talented; you\u2019ve got to keep acting\u2026\u00a0 So, if you absolutely can\u2019t take that advice, then you have to start thinking outside the box.\u00a0 You have to start networking and thinking about what makes you special.\u00a0 Consider all the forms of training.\u00a0 Improv is a good one and drama schools.\u00a0 You\u2019ve got to figure out a way into the business.\u00a0 There\u2019s no magical way in.\u00a0 A question that gets asked, oddly enough, is \u201cWhy not?\u201d for some reason.\u00a0 No one has the answer, so you\u2019ve got to find a way.\u00a0 Make a three year plan and when you get half way through, reassess your plan.\u00a0 At the end of three years, reassess again.\u00a0 You\u2019ve got to constantly try to do something different.\u00a0 It\u2019s no different than any other field.\u00a0 You\u2019ve got work your ass off at it and, I\u2019m serious, don\u2019t go into it if you can think of anything <\/em>else.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> I attended a PGA (Producers Guild of America) conference that the Guild put on because I wanted to start hearing about the way producers are thinking in this industry.\u00a0 They\u2019re going through \u2013 It was a PR exercise, you know, develop a bit of a rap for themselves after the whole threaten of a SAG (Screen Actors Guild) strike and the writers strike.\u00a0 It was interesting because they reminded me of the fact that this industry was built on \u201cYes\u201d people.\u00a0 It\u2019s about seeing the way in and going for it, but the secret to networking is about how you can help other people without expecting anything back in return.\u00a0 That\u2019s what good producers do.\u00a0 The see \u201cYou\u2019re talented, you\u2019re talented, you guys will get on really well, let\u2019s put you two together and I want you to make this movie because I think the two of you would really, you know, speak the same language.\u00a0 You just don\u2019t know who you are gonna meet in a room, any given day, anywhere.\u00a0 I think that people who really have a good attitude \u2013 I find that interns and assistants are people who are completely overqualified for the job that they\u2019re in now, but they say, \u201cYou\u2019re not auditioning for this<\/em> job, you\u2019re auditioning for the next job.\u201d\u00a0 So you always have to be aware of the fact that people are watching you and they are looking at your attitude and they want to know that you can be a team player and that you\u2019re okay with being where you are right now in the hope you\u2019ll get somewhere else, but you\u2019re happy being in the present where you are with whatever role you been given.\u00a0 With Vala, she wasn\u2019t really scripted.\u00a0 I mean, that was kinda, in a way, the essence of her was like unscripted television.\u00a0 Obviously having being scripted by the time I went to perform her, but for the first time, when I did that episode with Michael Shanks, it was sort of fun on the page definitely, but we sort of brought something to it and Rob Cooper said to me, \u201cJust keep doing what you\u2019re doing and if its too much, we\u2019ll cut it out, but just put it out there and we\u2019ll work out who Vala is from what you guys do.\u201d\u00a0 So there\u2019re always opportunities.\u00a0 You have to stay playful.\u00a0 That\u2019s what my kids reminded me as well; the ultimate for of creativity really, literally is having children.\u00a0 You have<\/em> to be creative with kids.\u00a0 It\u2019s reminded me that you always have to look for creative solutions to where you\u2019re at.\u00a0 You have to develop your on material.\u00a0 If you\u2019re so special that you\u2019re not getting any work because you don\u2019t fit into any boxes, then don\u2019t be a victim about it, start creating your own vehicle because that could be your way.\u00a0 It\u2019s an open market now with the internet.\u00a0 Everyone has a digital camera, you could just create something with enough hits and you\u2019ve done it.\u00a0 You\u2019ve created that vehicle for yourself.\u00a0 If you have an idea, be around the right people who\u2019ll help you make it and just do it.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> Yeah, because if you can survive everyone saying \u201cNo!\u201d, that\u2019s the first step, then you\u2019ll be fine, no matter what you do.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"BenClaudia6\"<\/a>Next question was, where did the nickname \u201cPip\u201d come from?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> Something else was scripted\u2026\u00a0 I think what was in the script was \u201cSquirt\u201d.\u00a0 And I looked at her and I didn\u2019t think she looked like a \u201cSquirt\u201d.\u00a0 So I called her \u201cPip\u201d instead.\u00a0 I thought it suited her.\u00a0 It was like many things on Farscape\u2026\u00a0 I didn\u2019t think very far in advance.\u00a0 Many things I do in life I don\u2019t think far in advance!\u00a0 I decided to be an actor when I was 22.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t think 20-something years later.\u00a0 It was really a case of I liked the name, it seemed to suit who Chiana was from Crichton\u2019s perspective.\u00a0 That\u2019s where it came from.\u00a0 With every cultural reference I made, I wanted it to have not only contemporary, but also possible classical references, so I had a Charles Dickens thing going on.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The next fan talked about the scene in Unending where Daniel really comes down hard on Vala and she\u2019s just sitting there crying, then asked how it is to film something like that with no words, just using your face to display the emotion.\u00a0 (Or something to that effect\u2026)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> I think an actor\u2019s job is to prove that, yes, they can work with the writer\u2019s words, but they can deliver something between them as well.\u00a0 The character never stops breathing.\u00a0 A lot of people say acting is reacting as well.\u00a0 To me, when two characters have known each other well enough, there\u2019s more pain in fewer words.\u00a0 So Michael and I asked for that.\u00a0 There was a scene written where it was easier\u2026\u00a0 It was kind of like, \u201cOh Vala, you\u2019re irritating, but okay, let\u2019s get it on.\u201d\u00a0 We both read it \u2013<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> (Laughing) I could have played that scene!\u00a0 I never understood the objection Daniel had anyway.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> Oh, Vala was very different to Aeryn.\u00a0 Her whole MO (Modus Operandi or Method of Operation) was about being irritating.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> SO?!\u00a0 I mean look<\/em> at her!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> Aeryn maybe, but by the time I got to play Vala, I was already mutton dressed as lamb.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> No, no, no!\u00a0 That little red underwear thing?\u00a0 And he comes in and goes \u201cNo\u201d?!\u00a0 I went to the writers and said, \u201cHe said no, (Raises his hand) I\u2019m up!\u201d (Laughs) And they said no!\u00a0 You get a lot of no\u2019s in this business.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> Yeah!\u00a0 So, Michael and I actually talked about it and we went in to talk to Robert Cooper and we said \u2013 he\u2019s very open to suggestions \u2013 and we were aware that the show was ending early kind of like with Farscape, so how do we pull certain stories forward for the fans so there\u2019s a sense of closure, but so that they don\u2019t feel cheated that we kind of rushed them at this point?\u00a0 So that scene needed to deliver everything that would have come and to honor ever<\/span><\/span>\"Timeout\"<\/a><\/span><\/span>ything that had come up until that point with Daniel and Vala because she was irritating and I didn\u2019t really believe that he had a sexual chemistry with her.\u00a0 I think he was intrigued by her, but I really didn\u2019t believe that there was much going on between them sexually. (Ben was making faces when Claudia said this.\u00a0 It was hilarious!)\u00a0 So we thought Daniel really needs to let her have it.\u00a0 He really needs to call her on all of her stuff, on all of her behaviors.\u00a0 (Ben was still making faces and Claudia finally caught him!)\u00a0 Do you \u2013 I think someone needs a time out!\u00a0 (Ben stood up, walked over and stood in the corner)\u00a0 It\u2019s not gonna be a short time out.\u00a0 It\u2019s a minute for every year of your life! (Laughs)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> I\u2019ll be here till Tuesday!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> So, basically, we talked the scene through with Robert and that\u2019s why it was so aggressive and so full of pent up anger finally for that latent frustration and anger o come out so that Daniel could finally force Vala to stop being a child and become almost a woman in that scene.\u00a0 It\u2019s kind of like a wild horse.\u00a0 You know, you have to break them down to train them, to teach them how to function.\u00a0 So, for me, that\u2019s what that scene was really about.\u00a0 Breaking the (Laughs) the spirit of the wild horse, (Laughs) so that they can ride off into the sunset together and be happy and make lots of babies\u2026\u00a0 Oh, crap!\u00a0 Ummmm\u2026\u00a0 (Laughs)\u00a0 You know what I mean!\u00a0 So, to me, it was about being able to see \u2013 I thought it would be very powerful dramatically for the audience to see that he had broken her and that she was listening and that it was having a massive impact on her.\u00a0 I felt that a lot of the time Vala didn\u2019t seem like a real person.\u00a0 This was my way to show him and the audience that she was <\/em>real and therefore, that they did<\/em> have a future together.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"BenClaudia9\"<\/a>The next question was for Ben.\u00a0 This fan wanted confirmation from him that Grayza\u2019s baby was NOT John\u2019s child.\u00a0 She had asked Rebecca, but she didn\u2019t like her answer\u2026\u00a0 (See Rebecca Riggs\u2019 panel transcription for her answer to this same question.)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> Given the canon of the show and the science as we know it – a Sebacean woman who is in the Peacekeepers can<\/em> be impregnated and hold the baby in stasis for long periods of time until it\u2019s released \u2013 the canon of the show says it\u2019s possible.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> Computer says it\u2019s possible!\u00a0 (Claudia was quoting Galaxy Quest)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> Computer?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> Do you have a spare Beryllium Sphere on board?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> It\u2019s possible.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Then the fan complained that there is no way<\/em> that it could be Crichton\u2019s baby.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> If she\u2019s not happy with the answer, she\u2019s gonna keep going!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> There is NO way\u2026 (Laughs)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This seemed to satisfy the woman. \u00a0She said she was happy now.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> Don\u2019t you know Ben?\u00a0 You give women what they want<\/em>.\u00a0 You don\u2019t tell them the truth!\u00a0 It works!\u00a0 That\u2019s that in action.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> What if you don\u2019t know what they want?\u00a0 That\u2019s my problem.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> You have been having the old \u201cI am not a mind reader\u201d conversation, have you?\u00a0 We have it in our house too.\u00a0 Gosh, with all the talking I do, I would\u2019ve thought he\u2019d got it by now!\u00a0 (Laughs)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The next question was about biscuits and if Ben had found somewhere to get good ones or if he had found Crisco.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> Okay, I could not get Crisco in Australia and it really messed up my biscuit making.\u00a0 No, I haven\u2019t found a good place in LA.\u00a0 I know people say they are here, but I haven\u2019t found them.\u00a0 If I want good ones, I have to make them myself.\u00a0 They\u2019re not good for<\/em> you, but if you want good biscuits, they have got to be made by your mom, your grandma, or gosh help you, your dad.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"BenClaudia14\"<\/a>Next question was about Inc.\u00a0 (Claudia\u2019s new project that\u2019s in development.\u00a0 Follow @incseries on Twitter!)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> Brad and I have been in different cities.\u00a0 I\u2019ve actually started to shop around a really cool comic series and I\u2019m filming \u2013 doing something at the moment, so once that\u2019s done, we\u2019ll get back to Inc.\u00a0 I\u2019ve started to work with people who can help us develop it, but it\u2019s just not there yet.\u00a0 I\u2019ve sort of put it out there and the concept doesn\u2019t quite work, so it\u2019s back to the drawing board.\u00a0 Thank you for asking and as soon as we have a stronger concept \u2013 it\u2019s a good idea<\/em> \u2013 but we need to develop it further so we have something to sell.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The next question was asked by one of our very own reporters, WR_Systems<\/strong><\/em>!\u00a0 H<\/span><\/span>e<\/span><\/span> asked everyone to \"IncSeries\"<\/a>follow Inc. on twitter and if we\u2019d see tweets from Claudia.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> Oh, absolutely!\u00a0 It\u2019s just about creating a little bit of a community around it, so th<\/span><\/span>\"Click<\/a>at when we finally do have news to spread, it\u2019ll spread really quickly.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Then Kenn<\/strong> asked if any of her future works would include an appearance by the \u201cfine gentleman\u201d sitting next to her.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> He is a gentleman!\u00a0 Oh baby, he\u2019ll be front and center if I have anything to say about it!\u00a0 (Laughs)\u00a0 You know, (she started talking in a funny voice) when I\u2019m a producer \u2013 an executive<\/em> producer \u2013 he might need to come in and sit on my \u201ccasting\u201d couch.\u00a0 Baby, that\u2019s the way I\u2019m gonna roll.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Someone yelled out, \u201cHis wife is still<\/em> in the building!\u201d\u00a0 Claudia said she was just kidding and then another person yelled out, \u201cShe (Francesca) might wanna \u201croll\u201d too!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> (Again in the funny voice \u2013 I wish you all could have heard her say this!) When I\u2019m an executive producer of my own show, I may need to call Francesca into my office to sit on my \u201ccasting\u201d couch.\u00a0 I can roll that<\/em> way too!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Laughing2\"<\/a>At this point, Ben was bright<\/span><\/em><\/strong> red and he couldn\u2019t even talk\u00a0 He shook his head and silently handed his microphone to Claudia who was just cracking up.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> See, I told you he was a gentleman.\u00a0 He refuses to comment now!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The next guy up to ask a question didn\u2019t know what to say about that, so he started out with a pause and then, \u201cWow.\u201d\u00a0 Then he asked about the song Claudia did with Paul.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> Paul created this beautiful album and asked me if I would do a song on it.\u00a0 It was awhile ago actually, while we were doing Farscape.\u00a0 (She saw Paul near the back of the room and pointed him out)\u00a0 There he is ladies and gentlemen.\u00a0 Please buy his album because we\u2019d like him to make more. (Giggles)\u00a0 I just have a creative spirit.\u00a0 It doesn\u2019t matter if you\u2019re redecorating the house or acting or whatever in between jobs.\u00a0 I\u2019m always attempting things.\u00a0 I was talking to Paul about maybe getting back into some singing.\u00a0 I kind of got my voice back.\u00a0 I\u2019ll drag him into a duet with me.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The next girl told Claudia that she was friends with a friend of hers.\u00a0 Her name was Genevieve (or something like that) and she had told her that Claudia had never really wanted to go into acting, that it had just sort of fallen into her lap and she wanted to know how that happened.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> It\u2019s so weird that you can get the most off information from someone who actually sort of knows you\u2026\u00a0 \u201cI hear you were married to three people at once!\u201d\u00a0 Well, I actually came from a musical theatre background, so people expected that I would become a singer, not an actor.\u00a0 There was less pressure with acting and I used to get too stressed out singing.\u00a0 I\u2019m a perfectionist and because of other stuff going on personally, I used to get really stressed out and I would pretty much every time without fail before I performed, I would get some kind of psychosomatic cold.\u00a0 I would always be getting sick before opening night.\u00a0 I just thought that it was unmanageable.\u00a0 Why put that pressure on myself?\u00a0 I\u2019m just going to follow the other art I\u2019m interested in (acting), but it\u2019s under the radar, and see what happens.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Next up asked if the underwater scenes were scary to film.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> David Kemper came up to me in the middle of filming and whispered in my ear, \u201cThis is a reward<\/em> for all of your hard work this season.\u00a0 Okay, go!\u201d\u00a0 And they dumped me into this tank of murky water on a seat where the flotation parts came off and the water got so murky from the wet paint from the fake ice on the top, that the guy with the tank that was holding the air for me, we couldn\u2019t se each other.\u00a0 I had an incredible season and so, for me, that was just an incredible way \u2013 I could see what they were doing and I knew where they were going.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t think they were writing me out of the show.\u00a0 They probably would\u2019ve liked me to think that for a minute so I would have behaved better. (Laughs) I was really cheeky and I talked back a lot.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know if I would these days\u2026\u00a0 Probably. (Laughs)\u00a0 But it was an amazing thing for my character.\u00a0 The whole season was an incredible gift to me as an actor and that was great attention to give my character and I was really grateful for it because I really got a chance to own and claim her.\u00a0 She belonged to the writers for a long time before I found my feet and got my confidence with her.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The next question was about how good the two of them are with comedic timing and what their influences are.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> Three Stooges, Little Rascals, Abbot and Costello.\u00a0 That\u2019s like that show \u201cActor\u2019s Studio\u201d\u2026 (It\u2019s actually \u201cInside the Actor\u2019s Studio\u201d, but we\u2019ll forgive him.)\u00a0 \u201cWho are your influences?\u201d\u00a0 \u201cThe Curly guy.\u00a0 A little of Moe\u2026\u00a0 Never took to Shep.\u201d\u00a0 Probably my dad more than anyone else.\u00a0 My dad and my brothers.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> My dad put me on to \u2013 he sent me in a very specific direction with my comedy.\u00a0 A lot <\/em>of British comedy.\u00a0 TV was an event for us, so we\u2019d sit with another family who lived across the road and we\u2019d watch together.\u00a0 It\u2019s like watching live comedy theatre.\u00a0 It was great to share it with other people.\u00a0 So, Kenny Everett, Faulty Towers, Young ones, Monty Python.\u00a0 My favorite film has not changed in years; it\u2019s always \u201cLife of Brian\u201d.\u00a0 That\u2019s the perfect film really.\u00a0 And a lot of Mel Brooks.\u00a0 Very early Woody Allen. It was mostly British influence, you know, Black Adder and all those sorts of things.\u00a0 And if you haven\u2019t been watching Catherine Tate, you need to be.\u00a0 Little Britain the original series.\u00a0 British do incredible comedy.\u00a0 How many are into \u201cThe Office\u201d?\u00a0 (There was a\u00a0 lot of cheering)\u00a0 Those are my influences.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Next question was about the funniest scene to shoot.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> What are you thinking?\u00a0 You\u2019re not going to answer are you?\u00a0 (Indignant) None of those <\/em>scenes were supposed to be funny!\u00a0 What was funny about those?!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> It wasn\u2019t until you asked the question that my mind we<\/span><\/span>\"Claudia4\"<\/a><\/span><\/span>nt there\u2026<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> (Laughs) We did so many crazy things every single day.\u00a0 There was always something funny and irreverent and crazy.\u00a0 We amused ourselves constantly with <\/span><\/span>science fiction references we could bring in.\u00a0 I liked filming that scene where I\u2019m wearing the Calvin Klein undies of Crichton\u2019s.\u00a0 And in the on where we all body swap, and the director allowed us \u2013 they would say, \u201cWhat do you want to do?\u00a0 What do you think Crichton would do?\u201d\u00a0 I\u2019m like, \u201cCome on!\u00a0 You get these<\/em> for a day, what are you<\/em> gonna do?\u201d\u00a0 (Laughs)\u00a0 It was very obvious to me!\u00a0 So that stuff was really funny.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> There were so many fun days on set, so many funny scenes that we shot.\u00a0 The scene in the hospital where I was strapped to the gurney and you were in the little nurse\u2019s outfit.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> That was funny?!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> You didn\u2019t have the view I had with Rygel coming up between your legs!\u00a0 Or Lani with that little farting dog!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> What about the little tandoori chicken?\u00a0 Because we actually laughed on screen and you can probably see it in the final edit.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know if they had enough coverage to have a shot without having the side of my face, I think Aeryn turns around and you can see me cracking up, trying very hard not to lose it on the screen.\u00a0 We had a lot of laughs shooting that!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> It\u2019s \u201cBeware of Dog\u201d.\u00a0 You know the little creature that we called the tandoori chicken?\u00a0 The one with the chicken wings\u2026\u00a0 How is this<\/em> thing going to be scary?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> The way it articulated, it just wasn\u2019t scary!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Flailing\"<\/a>They both started flailing around in their seats and flapping their arms really awkwardly in imitation of the tandoori chicken.\u00a0 SO funny!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> He couldn\u2019t articulate, he was in six inches of foam!\u00a0 When they were putting that episode together, I think the writers told the creature shop, \u201cWe\u2019ll put a little guy in a suit!\u201d\u00a0 They said, \u201cNo, you don\u2019t want to do that.\u00a0 Seriously, we\u2019ve done this; you don\u2019t<\/em> want to do it.\u201d\u00a0 You don\u2019t want to put a\u2026\u00a0 Vertically challenged person in a suit.\u00a0 (Claudia corrected him with \u201cshort stature\u201d instead of \u201cvertically challenged\u201d)\u00a0 You don\u2019t want to put a person of short stature in a suit.\u00a0 Its one thing for them to be acting, but don\u2019t put them in a suit.\u00a0 The writers say that\u2019s how we are going to do it because it was cheaper so they did.\u00a0 And (they both start laughing) he had to fall over\u2026<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> He had to take hits from multiple rifles, so the rubber sort of articulated the wings (they started the awkward flapping again at this point) and then when he fell over, there was really no difference between him standing and falling over!\u00a0 And he was stuck!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> So at this point, he falls over, his feet kick up, his chicken wings are going (more flapping) and you couldn\u2019t NOT laugh!\u00a0 So we turn away from the camera and we\u2019re laughing and he\u2019s down in the suit going, \u201cWhat?!\u00a0 What?!\u201d\"BenClaudia13\"<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> And he\u2019s flapping as he\u2019s saying it!\u00a0 (They both started flapping again and Ben was yelling \u201cWHAT?!\u201d)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> Now that was one pissed off tandoori chicken!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> That was one of those things where it had been written in the episode that he was supposed to be the scary form of the Vork and the other one was so damn cute and this one was really<\/em> not scary!\u00a0 So we had to tweak the story a bit.\u00a0 Really, the emphasis on the page was what we brought out when that creature died \u2013 the cute version \u2013 Aeryn was genuinely upset.\u00a0 We were able to put more focus on him than on the \u201cscary\u201d one, but in true Farscape style, we just called it.\u00a0 If it looks like a tandoori chicken and it moves like a tandoori chicken, then we\u2019re going to call it a tandoori chicken!\u00a0 It saved us a lot, being able to call things that didn\u2019t work.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The next woman had the cutest little baby who was named Aeryn and she was dressed up as Aeryn!\u00a0 She had little black pants, a green long-sleeved tee, and a tiny black vest.\u00a0 She was seriously adorable and no doubt going to look back on pictures of herself and roll her eyes at her parents\u2026 \ud83d\ude09\u00a0 Anyway, Aeryn\u2019s mom asked if they thought Aeryn (not the baby\u2026 Haha!) would ever find out that Grayza raped John and what they think she\u2019d do if she ever did find out.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> (Acted shocked) Wh-what did she say?!\u00a0 (Laughs)\u00a0 If the show had gone on for another five years, she would have found out.\u00a0 Of course!\u00a0 Wide ramifications from that little incident\u2026<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> Not that it\u2019s possible for that\u2026\u00a0 (Laughs)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> Oh my gosh!\u00a0 What would she have done?\u00a0 I imagine since we lived in such a sick and twisted world on that show, that the two boys would have grown up and either been side by side as friends and they would have found out in a really twisted way.\u00a0 She would have found out in a really awkward way and would have had to channel her anger into a different place and not react the way she would\u2019ve hoped, out of pure anger and vengeance.\u00a0 Aeryn\u2019s journey was always about learning new ways to behave.\u00a0 She was always learning to humanize.\u00a0 She would have had lots of time outs I\u2019m sure!\u00a0 (Laughs)\u00a0 I think probably, in my own imagination, it would go to someplace where she is forced to contain her anger and make peace with it in a way that is very difficult for her.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Next question was if Claudia was already cast on Stargate or if Ben had gotten her the job.\u00a0 Sorry!\u00a0 My note taking skills dropped off a little bit here\u2026\u00a0 Sorry!\u00a0 This is what I remember.\u00a0 Claudia said that they\u2019d always had Ben in mind, but there wasn\u2019t an opportunity to have him on.\u00a0 She got a guest role on \u201cPrometheus Unbound\u201d first and then Ben got cast full time during the ninth season.\u00a0 The next question was asked by a psychologist.\u00a0 He asked how they dealt with the emotional days on set.\u00a0 How they reigned in those emotions and just went back to being themselves again for their families.\u00a0 Claudia said that by the time you are done and get home, you don\u2019t see your kids.\u00a0 Ben said he hardly ever got home for bath time.\u00a0 Claudia said she was living on her own and was so drained from the physical side of the show that she mostly spent her time trying to get over that.\u00a0 She said Ben could just keep going like a runner and he never seemed to wear out.\u00a0 He used to tell himself he had ten more miles to go when he really only had one so he could still have good energy at the end.\u00a0 He also said that he could see in his face how tired he became throughout the years.\u00a0 He was working 70 hour weeks and then on the weekends trying to be a good dad, so he was always worn out by the end of every season.\u00a0 He also said that sometimes there is a little bleed through of the emotions, but that he could separate it as work.\u00a0 If his character had a bad day, it doesn\u2019t mean he<\/em> is having a bad day.\u00a0 Even the day he died, he just looked at Claudia\u2019s performance and was amazed at what she had done and that\u2019s what he took with him.\u00a0 Ok, notes are back up!\u00a0 Sorry about that!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> But you have to start making decisions.\u00a0 It\u2019s not healthy to take that home, it\u2019s not real life!\u00a0 Unless you are using acting as therapy, which you should save for a therapy room, don\u2019t bring it to set because you are there to work and you\u2019re supposed to function and be professional.\u00a0 For me, it was an opportunity to \u2013 Ben and I are hopeless romantics so even on the worst scenes that hurt the most, it was an opportunity to express complete love in all its forms.\u00a0 For a romantic who comes from a theatre background, to be able to express love at that level, its delicious to experience love at that level of vulnerability, that humanity and then you can walk away.\u00a0 Being on a set, you\u2019ll do a scene like that and then go to the lunch room and Anthony Simcoe Is walking around in half his costume with boxer shorts and flip flops and his D\u2019Argo makeup on and it resets your sense of reality.\u00a0 Ben\u2019s family would come to visit and it was great to have the outside world coming in.\u00a0 I\u2019ve also made a decision that I\u2019m really trying to move my world more towards comedy because it actually does have a really powerful impact on me and I think that unless you\u2019re making something \u2013 how are we ever <\/em>going to match Farscape?\u00a0 I don\u2019t know if I\u2019m ever going to step on another show I\u2019m so proud of in every way \u2013 so if I can\u2019t do that, then I want to be doing comedy.\u00a0 I think laughter has a physiological, emotional, psychological affect on people.\u00a0 It feels better for me doing it and it\u2019s not such a burden physically and it gives more to people.\u00a0 Unless you are doing something like Farscape where you really can express love and human emotions in such a huge, epic way.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Then next guy said he remembered them talking about how much they loved \u201cGalaxy Quest\u201d and asked them if they realized that conventions like that were going to be such a huge part of their lives.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> We all saw it on the same weekend and came in on Monday \u2013<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> In shock!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> And Claudia goes, \u201cComputer?\u00a0 Is there a spare Beryllium sphere on board?\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"BenClaudia12\"<\/a>Claudia Black: <\/strong> \u201cI have one<\/em> job on this show, I know it\u2019s stupid<\/em>, but I\u2019m gonna do it!\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> \u201cNever give up!\u00a0 Never surrender!\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> And then we go out on location and Ben does a dive roll and he was doing it in earnest and I\u2019m like, \u201cDoes that make you feel better?\u201d\u00a0 (Laughs)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben yelled out another line from the movie that I didn\u2019t quite catch.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> \u201cLet\u2019s get out of here before one of them kills Guy!\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> Sorry, what movie was that you were talking about?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> It was SO well observed that film.\u00a0 It was such a great film.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> What struck us at the time because when we saw it, we had never been to a convention\u2026\u00a0 What we saw was the giant fan.\u00a0 We were wondering why there\u2019s always a giant fan!\u00a0 It was so keenly observed as to what happens on a science fiction set.\u00a0 Yes, this is what they do!\u00a0 Why did they write the monster there?\u00a0 You know as soon as you see the little monster, the bigger monster was \u2013 the little monster could be dangerous!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> It is true that if you don\u2019t have a last name you die!\u00a0 For us, we hadn\u2019t been on the convention circuit, but I remember sitting with Anthony Simcoe watching it with one of our friends and laughing at least every minute of a 120 minute film because we got every single joke about working in the genre itself and how intelligently it was observed.\u00a0 Everyone else in the audience was sort of the odd twitter (of laughter).\u00a0 We were out of our minds thinking it was the most brilliant film and I said to him, \u201cNo on in this room has a clue!\u201d\u00a0 We are on a sci-fi show, it was the biggest budgeted sci-fi show that has ever been filmed in our country, and we are working on this show, no one has a clue who we are, we\u2019re going through this experience and no one can feel our pain.\u00a0 Conventions, we\u2019re the lucky ones!\u00a0 We get to come and be around people who appreciate what we do.\u00a0 We get to meet you guys.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> Side note to that, the conventions you saw in \u201cGalaxy Quest\u201d do not resemble what we \"BenClaudia15\"<\/a>see sitting here.\u00a0 This is my observation now!\u00a0 When I saw the movie, I hadn\u2019t been to one,\u00a0 I am thinking to myself, \u201cOh NO!\u201d\u00a0 I mean, look, I\u2019m immediately picturing myself going to the bathroom and hearing somebody talking about what a joke I am.\u00a0 There is a tendency when you are on a TV show or when you\u2019re in television and film to somehow think you are kind of important.\u00a0 Not me personally!\u00a0 But other people that I know\u2026\u00a0 When they are on shows, they think they are important and that transfers over to when they meet the fans.\u00a0 You may have met some where, when you meet them, you know they think they are more important than you are\u2026<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> Out of respect for a convention, I bought a photo to ask this actor to sign it.\u00a0 There is this unspoken thing at cons that if you are attending as an actor to sign, you just barter.\u00a0 You trade your autograph for theirs and there is no money exchanged.\u00a0 I respectfully, thinking this man has no clue who I am, went to go as you guys do, along the line and wait, buy a photo and say hello.\u00a0 They said, \u201cI\u2019m sure he\u2019ll personalize it for you!\u201d\u00a0 I told them that it was for my husband because he\u2019s a big fan and we had this ongoing joke about this guy and I wanted to say thank you to him.\u00a0 Oh God!\u00a0 It could not have gone more badly if I had tried!\u00a0 He thought I was a nutcase because the first thing I said to him was, \u201cI\u2019ve broken all the rules, I\u2019ve come over from the other side.\u201d\u00a0 He started nervously looking around for security\u2026\u00a0 I said, \u201cI just wanted to say\u201d \u2013 and I know you want to get out what you\u2019ve wanted to say for whatever, so I know what its like and I said, \u201cListen, I just wanted to pass on that thanks to you, I can understand what my husband says because you annunciate so beautifully.\u201d\u00a0 And his response was, (very sarcastically) \u201cWell then, my whole life has been worth living.\u201d\u00a0 So I went back to the really cute young American fellow who was signing next tom me and I said, \u201cCan you sit on your hand for a second and then write a message to my husband and sign it from that guy over there?\u00a0 Once you sit on your hand for a bit, it\u2019ll be numb and it\u2019ll look like someone else\u2019s writing anyway.\u201d\u00a0 So yeah, I\u2019ve experienced that\u2026<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Browder: <\/strong> The extension of that which should be said is the only reason we\u2019re sitting here is because of you.\u00a0 That\u2019s the only reason.\u00a0 It\u2019s not because we were on a show.\u00a0 Lots of actors have been on shows.\u00a0 There are lots of show and tons of actors.\u00a0 There are lots of talented actors.\u00a0 The privilege for us is to be here on our 10th<\/sup> anniversary is a credit to the audience, you, to the participants of the process, the fact that you have a community that you guys created that exists outside of our influence or presence\u2026\u00a0 We\u2019re superfluous to the process at this point and it\u2019s a privilege to be invited into your circle.\u00a0 I hope that we can never come to a pass where you think there is some gap or distance between you and me.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia\u2019s son (who was dressed as Batman) ran up on stage and into her arms.\u00a0 She asked him if he wanted to say his name, but he was understandably shy.\u00a0 There were so many people!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> Ladies and gentlemen, this is my good friend Batman.\u00a0 (She mouthed to the audience, \u201cMy son!\u201d)\u00a0 When I did fess up to him this week and told him what I do for a living and I was going to work and if he wanted to come with me, he said yes and asked what I\u2019d be doing. \u00a0I told him I\u2019d be up on stage talking to people and he asked if he could come up and I told him he could.\u00a0 And you did!\u00a0 You came!\u00a0 I\u2019m so proud of you!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

At this point, he wanted to take his mask off and Claudia asked if we wouldn\u2019t take photos if he did.\u00a0 I\u2019m not joking, instantly; every camera in the place went down.\u00a0 Not one person that I could see took a picture.\u00a0 It was really truly amazing to see the respect that all the \u2018Scapers had for Claudia.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Claudia Black: <\/strong> Things have changed in ten years! \u00a0I wanted to say I think Farscape is really about the community that you guys have formed and we\u2019re grateful to be invited.\u00a0 It is not the other way around, as Ben has been saying.\u00a0 We\u2019re here because of you and on these weekends, we know it\u2019s a really important opportunity for you guys in this amazing online community to actually see each other face to face and socialize.\u00a0 People come from all over the world, it is just incredible!\u00a0 And we\u2019re a part of your world, you\u2019ve brought us into your world it\u2019s not the reverse so we\u2019re very grateful.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
