Today we drove into Atlanta and scoped out the DragonCon&#8217;s territory &#8211; 4 host hotels, and crowds of people rooming the sidewalks in clothes that &#8211; one would hope &#8211; are not regularly seen in Atlanta!<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"> <\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">My family and I have driven through Atlanta before, but only in passing through on our way to Florida. Thankfully my father spent about a week here a good number of years ago when his work office expanded to Atlanta and he came to help facilitate the move. Luckily this means that we haven&#8217;t gotten lost . . . yet.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"> <\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">Atlanta does not strike me as being very different from Chicago. There is a definite struggle between the new and the old here. Modern skyscrapers bump up against much more classic architecture. I find myself really enjoying the eclectic contrast, and the overall feel is very homey to me.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"> <\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">After going to our own hotel about 15 minutes Southwest of downtown Atlanta (because anything closer was full when I booked the reservations) and freshening up, I met up with RadioStar\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 at the Hyatt and we found our way down to the Media Relations room. There we met Dan Carroll, a wonderful gentleman that has been just amazing in assisting us to get Press Badges. Since WormholeRiders is such a new site, we owe a lot to Dan for the trust he placed in us and the hard work he did for us. Thank you, Dan!<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/wormholeriders.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/img_3634.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1243\" title=\"img_3634\" src=\"http:\/\/wormholeriders.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/img_3634.jpg\" alt=\"img_3634\" width=\"387\" height=\"286\" \/><\/a>After making some other exploratory wanderings from host hotel to host hotel, poking our heads into one of the main auditoriums, we made our way to the Marriot Marquis hotel to attend the First Annual DragonCon Press Party.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"> <\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">First, I just have to mention that the Marriot is a <em>beautiful <\/em>hotel, but for people who don&#8217;t like heights like me, the glass elevator could give you a heart attack. RadioStar\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 and I both had to back away from the glass and look away as the elevator rocketed up to the <em>47<sup>th<\/sup> floor <\/em>to the beautiful suite where the party was being held. My ears popped for the 100<sup>th<\/sup> time, and even when we got off the elevator I could not look down to the lobby that seemed to be an infinite distance below.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"> <\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">When we entered the party we were greeted by many milling people, chatting animatedly, drinking, and eating some very tasty hors d&#8217;oeuvres. We got a chance to talk with Dan for a minute, listened to him as he and his co-workers gave rousing statements, and then politely took our leave.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"> <\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">We then tracked down some of RadioStar&#8217;s Farscape Night friends who are in attendance to go find dinner. We walked over to the Hard Rock Caf\u00e9, had some burgers, and then they headed back to the Hilton where they are staying while I made my why back to my own hotel, pleasantly full and tired.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"> <\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">Tomorrow the real fun starts with a Stargate Atlantis panel at 11:30 eastern time, a Farscape panel at 1:00, and a Stargate SG-1 panel at 5:30.
